Lethia Matilda Thompson, age 86, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on October 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 9, 1940, and lived a life marked by faith, love, kindness, and devotion to her family.

Lethia was a Christian woman whose faith guided her throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was known for her gentle spirit, warm heart, and generous nature.

She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in caring for her family. Lethia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in being surrounded by those she loved. She was always willing to help others and made her home and table a place of welcome.

Lethia was preceded in death by her parents, James Claude Hancock and Bessie Wisham Hancock Wingate; her husband, Lamar Allen Thompson, Sr; and her son-in-law, Dorman Pynes.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Pynes; her sons, Lamar Allen Thompson, Jr. (Teresa) and George Mark Thompson; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nancy Horne. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Lethia will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, strong faith, and the love she so freely gave to her family and others. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.

Per Lethia’s request, there will be no formal services. Her family will continue to cherish her memory and honor the life she lived with love and grace.
