Levy Hagler Ward of Geneva passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024.  He was 94 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Warren Holloway Ward with the Rev. Ben Vickers officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 517, Geneva, AL 36340 or to Friends of the Emma Kenan Library, P.O. Box 550, Geneva, AL 36340.

Levy was born in Malone, FL on November 13, 1930, to the late Hagler Dalton and Mary Thomas Ward.  He was raised in Cottondale, FL.  He graduated from Cottondale High School and from Chipola Junior College and then attended Florida State University for one year.  He served in the Air Force for eight years during the Korean War.  He was married to his wife, Jean Grigsby Ward for 71 years.  They moved to Geneva in 1955 where he joined his dad and brothers in the management of Ward Motor Company for 65 years.

Levy was active in the community and served on several boards.  He was a member and past president of the Geneva Rotary Club which honored him as a Paul Harris Fellow.  He served as a member of the J. Walter Thompson Advertising Board for Ford Motor Company Southeastern Division in Atlanta, GA.  He was a member of the Albany Bank & Trust Board of Directors in Dothan, AL.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Geneva, AL.

In his pastime, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and spending time at the beach house in Panama City.  On the weekends in Panama City, he enjoyed having his morning coffee with his friends at a local restaurant.  They solved all the World’s problems and knew he better not come home without Thomas’ Doughnuts. Levy was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan who enjoyed attending the games with his family and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Levy was preceded in death by his brother, John T. Ward and one nephew, John T. “Little John” Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Grigsby Ward of Geneva, AL; two daughters, Michele Ward Fielder of Pensacola, FL, and Shawn Ward Carter (Philip) of Geneva, AL; one grandchild, Ross Ward Fielder of St. Petersburg, FL; and one brother, Allen Eugene “Al Gene” Ward (Gail) of Cottondale, FL.
