Linda Sue Griggs, age 63, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on August 9, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama. She was born on January 2, 1963, in Ashford, Alabama, and lived a life marked by warmth, determination, and a spirited love for the people and places that shaped her.
Linda was the beloved and cherished member of a close and loving family. She is survived by her brothers, Hayward Teague (Mattie) and Mark Snell (Lucy); her sister, Brunice Martin; and her many nieces and nephews, April Teague, Tony Teague, Eric Teague, Faye Teague, Kareem Martin, Lucky Martin, Brandon Martin and Chris Jackson; one great nephew, Drake; and 2 great great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Willie Faye Teague, her sister, Virginia Jackson, and niece, Latisha Jackson whose memory remained dear to her throughout her life.
A proud 1981 graduate of Ashford High School, Linda continued her education at Wallace Community College, where she earned a degree in computer science. Her education reflected her dedication to learning and her willingness to meet life with purpose and perseverance. She carried that same determination into her work and into every role she filled, always striving to do her best and to make a meaningful contribution wherever she went.
Linda worked at Flowers Hospital and later at Southeast Health, where she was known for her dependable nature and strong work ethic. She also served Houston County as a substitute teacher and bus driver, roles that allowed her to be a steady and familiar presence in the lives of many children and families. In addition, she worked at Walmart, where she continued to demonstrate the same commitment and energy that defined her life. No matter the job, Linda approached her responsibilities with confidence, sincerity, and a sense of purpose.
She was also a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where her presence was valued and her faith was an important part of her life. Her church family knew her as someone who was engaged, outspoken, and full of life. Linda was not one to sit still for long, and she was known as a go-getter who enjoyed staying busy and staying connected. She loved life, and she always seemed to have somewhere to go and something to do. Her energetic personality and direct way of speaking made her memorable to everyone who knew her.
Linda’s loved ones will remember her for her strong spirit, her honesty, and the lively way she carried herself through life. She was outspoken in the best sense, never afraid to share her thoughts, and she brought a sense of authenticity to every relationship. Beneath that strong exterior was a woman who cared deeply for her family and who valued the bonds that held them together. Her presence brought energy to every room, and her memory will remain a source of comfort and pride to those who knew and loved her.
Though her passing leaves a deep sadness, Linda Sue Griggs will be remembered with affection and respect for the life she lived and the example she set. Her family and friends will hold close the many memories of her laughter, her determination, and her unmistakable zest for life. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and spirited love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11am in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
