Votes are in and the judges have made their selections for the Pepsi Southern Original Finalists. Congratulations to Hannah Ellis, Whisky Row, Kelcy Mae, County Line Road and Grayson Rogers Band for winning each of their regional competitions. With all of the talent that made it out to the regional competitions, the panel of judges decided to add in two hand-selected wild-cards that they felt embodied the spirit of a true “Southern Original” they are Andrew Salgado, and Dallas Bowlin!
“As an artist manager of acts over the years including country superstars Little Big Town, country legend Darryl Worley, American Idol finalist Danny Gokey and platinum selling group Jars of Clay, I was really surprised with the caliber of talent that came out to our regional events. We had artists and bands come from all across the country to compete for the Pepsi Southern Original title,” says Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam Executive Producer, Rendy Lovelady.
Darryl Worley who hosted the regional events and was part of the judging panel exclaims, “I can’t wait to select our winner and get started in the studio with the Pepsi Southern Original. We’re planning to write some hits and launch this contestant’s career.”
Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam partnered with Sonicbids to collect online entries from aspiring country acts hoping to be crowned the Pepsi Southern Original. Regional competitions were held in Tuscaloosa, Atlanta, Troy, Tallahassee, and Auburn and broadcast live via Google Hangouts On Air. Round One has come to a close but Round Two opens up fiercer than ever with a clean voting slate for each of the seven finalists. Over the next eleven days, fans can vote for their favorite finalist and help them win the Pepsi Southern Original title.
Fan voting will close at midnight on September 24, 2013 and the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam Finale will be held the following day at Club La Vela in Panama City Beach, FL at 8pm.
Acts are competing for a spot to open up for Toby Keith, Eli Young Band, and Darryl Worley on the main stage at Frank Brown Park during the three day festival, September 26-28, 2013 in Panama City Beach, FL. The winner of the contest will have a song produced by an award winning producer, a music video created for the song, a development deal with a Nashville management group, and the title of Pepsi’s first ever Pepsi Southern Original. The six runner-ups will earn a spot on one of the festival’s daytime beach stages sharing the spotlight with acts including Tracy Lawrence, Brett Eldredge, Colt Ford, Corey Smith, Jerrod Niemann, Craig Campbell and more!
