Margie Standley Lee, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in Geneva, Alabama. Born on April 26, 1937, in Fort Gaines, Georgia, Margie’s life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.
Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold D. Lee, her cherished son, Mike Lee, and her dear sisters, June Hollis and Linda Phillips. Her parents, Walter V. and Thelma Holloway Standley, also preceded her in death.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her son, David Lee (Julie) of Fort Gaines, GA; her daughter, Melanie Bryan (Jackie) of Geneva, AL; her adored grandchildren, Mikie Lee, Chad Lee (Rachel), Ryan Lee (Jenna), and Jordan Ball; her treasured great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Ashton, Emarie, Eden, Amelia, Addison, and Weston; and the newest joy in her life, great-great-grandson, Waylon. Margie’s memory will also be cherished by her brothers, Leonard Standley (Lola) and Dudley Standley; her sister, Jeannie Howell; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by her kindness.
Margie’s professional life was dedicated to nurturing young minds as she served as a teacher’s aide for several years. Her gentle guidance and patience left an indelible mark on the many lives she touched through her work.
Her passions were as nurturing as her personality. Margie found solace in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing, working in her yard, and serving in her church. She had an extraordinary ability to find happiness in the everyday and shared that gift generously. Margie’s love for children was unparalleled, and she found great joy in their company, often surrounded by laughter and play.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Fort Gaines Baptist Church in Fort Gaines, GA from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. EST.
