
Martha Strickland White of Samson, AL passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 78 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Jimmy Simpler and Rev. Phillip Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Martha was born on October 18, 1946 in Geneva Co., AL to the late James Marvin and Mary Wise Strickland. She was an exceptional southern cook and was devoted to caring for her family and friends. Martha devoted her life to being a nurturer and care giver to many. Her calling in life was loving others more than herself and seeing their needs were met. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, especially attending all of their sporting events and competitions. She was always up for a road trip with the family. She was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Martha was a lifelong member of Reese Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin White; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Jordan White; six siblings, Merlion Simpler, Hilda Aplin, Reba Gillman, Franklin Strickland, Roger Strickland and Shelby Simmons.
Martha is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Robert S. White of Samson, AL; three children, Dennis White (Jennifer) of Birmingham, AL, Jenise Bowdoin (Gabe) of Geneva, AL and James White (Leah) of Geneva, AL; nine grandchildren, Mason White (Gracie), Sarah White, Bailey Gillespie, Gwen White, Carson White, Cort Bowdoin, Gabby Bowdoin, Pyper White and Brie Bowdoin; two sisters, Frances Strickland Martin and Diann Thomas (John Bell), all of Geneva, AL and a number of special nieces and nephews.
