Marv Elliott was born and reared in Mt. Sterling, Ohio, son of the late George Walter Elliott and Alma Virginia Clagg Elliott. He graduated from Madison Mills High School in 1965. Marv served his country in the U. S. Army until he was medically discharged. He started his early working career as a car salesman and became the General Manager of Chillicothe Auto Mall in Chillicothe, Ohio. Marv moved to Dothan in 1999 where he and his son, Bart, established his business, The Gutterman. This business today is a multi-faceted home improvement construction company located on South Park Avenue in Dothan. Marv was the ultimate salesman, a gift which served him well. His dynamic personality drew people to him, many of whom became dear and cherished friends. He loved his kids, family, friends, Alabama football, shooting pool and making money. Marv was a member of the Dothan Elks Lodge No. 1887, the V. F. W. Post No. 3073, and the Eagles Lodge in Ohio. He loved trying to help people that wanted to help themselves. If you did not have the pleasure of knowing Marv, I’m sorry. He was one of a kind and didn’t hold anything back. Marv always said what he had to say and it was his way or no way.
