Mary Celeste Oder, age 89, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Anderson, South Carolina. She was born on July 31, 1936, in Alexander City, Alabama, to the late Carl and Irene Oliver.
Mary was a kind, caring, and gentle soul whose warmth touched all who knew her. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially traveling and tending to her beloved potted plants.
Whether she was exploring new places or nurturing her flowers, Mary carried a quiet happiness that reflected her loving spirit.
She is survived by her step-son, Charles Oder and his wife, Jane; her daughter in law, Shirley Oder; as well as numerous grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Oder, whom she met later in life; her parents, Roy and Irene Oliver; her step children, Oliver Gilbert, Debra Gilbert, Ken Oder, Terry Oder, and Barbara Douglas; as well as her brother.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ricky Plummer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
