Maverick Christopher Jay McCarthy, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin, was born on February 21, 2026, and passed away on October 2, 2026, at the tender age of seven months.
Though his time here was brief, Maverick brought an immeasurable amount of love and joy into the lives of all who knew him. His precious presence touched the hearts of his family and friends, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever. He was deeply loved from the moment he entered this world, and that love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
Maverick is survived by his parents, Michael McCarthy and Leeanna Johnson; his sisters, Jolynn Harrell and Amethyst McCarthy; his Mimi, Sherry Glass; Grammy, Janan Jackson; Pop Pop, Jamie Henderson; grandmother, Fabiana Russell; grandparents, Trish and Daniel Glass; uncles, James and Matt; aunts, Emalee, Pookie, Stephanie, Sebrina, and Natalie; cousins, Kai, Ava and Maya; great-uncle, Kenneth; and special friend, Skye Granger and her children, Audrey Lewis, Ariel Pierce, and Hailie Hutchins.
Maverick was preceded in death by his uncle, Christopher Jay, grandmother, Rhonda Hix; and his aunt, Wanda Carter.
Although Maverick’s life was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will never be measured by the amount of time he was here. He will remain forever in the hearts of his family and all who loved him, a precious little boy whose life made a lasting impact.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home from 10am until 11am.
