Monque Lamar Horne


Monque Lamar Horne, 93, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2026, at Glover Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Grandstaff officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home of Dothan directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m., prior to the services.

Flowers will be accepted.

Lamar was born January 12, 1933, in Houston County to the late Homer & Hattie (Hudspeth) Horne. He was a 1952 graduate of Rehobeth High School. Following graduation, he attended Auburn University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. Lamar worked as an engineer for NASA, Boeing, Ingall’s & Litton Ship Building, and at Farley Nuclear Plant. When not working, he enjoyed working on his small cattle farm, gardening, and tending to his fruit trees. He was a long-time member of Southside Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death his wife, Jeanette Grouby Horne; his parents, three sisters, and five brothers.

He is survived by his three sons, Steve Horne of Dothan, Greg Horne (Sandy) of Wicksburg, and Glenn Horne of Notasulga; his two grandchildren, Jennifer Compton (Hagen) of Dothan, and Matthew Horne (Marie) of Cowarts; and one great-granddaughter, Grace Compton; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses of Interim Healthcare and Vitas Hospice, for the love and care shown to their loved one during this time.
