Obituary from Holman Funeral Home of Ozark – Ozark, Alabama

Mr. Billy Mitchell Peters, a resident of Ozark, died Friday, June 12, 2026, in Dale Medical Center. He was 74 years old.

A private funeral service will be held for Mr. Peters at a later date. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Peters was born December 24, 1951 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Billy Darrell Peters and JoAnn Marjorie Edmonds Peters. He graduated from Ariton High School in 1970. Mitchell started working on the family farm at an early age milking the cows. After seventy years he lived the dream, raising peanuts, cotton, soybeans, cows, chickens and hogs. He spent hours truck-farming, not just garden produce but acres of produce that he would sell to local vendors. Mitchell loved the land and everything farming and nature. He enjoyed fishing, playing softball, watching girls softball and the Atlanta Braves. Mitchell was the rock of the community and everyone’s big brother. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Wayne Peters.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Denise McClung Peters of Ozark; three sons, Justin Peters (Donald Hall) of Enterprise, Will Peters (Paula) of Louisville and Jonathan Mitchell Senn of Ariton; two sisters, Beverly McDaniel (Stan) of Ozark and Brenda Cochran (A.J.) of Ariton; two brothers, Lamar Peters and Robert Peters (Paige) all of Ozark; five grandchildren, Luke Peters (Brooke), Hannah Chancey (Logan), Reese Peters, Sloane Peters and Scarlett Peters, four great grandchildren, Adalee Peters, Lawrence Peters, Chandler Chancey and McKenna Chancey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Ariton School Baseball, 264 Creel Richardson Road, Ariton, Alabama 36311.
