David Lee Medley, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by his family.

Born on October 19, 1941, in Nashville, TN, to the late Seldon Medley and Evie Mitchell Medley, David’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and his country. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Medley, with whom he shared 59 years of devoted marriage. Together, they raised a family that included their son, David Dwayne Medley (Jaime), and daughters, Kayria Medley Shipes (Wayne) and Kaci Quattlebaum (Wayne). David’s legacy continued to grow with the joy of his grandchildren, Dylan Medley, Hunter Medley, Madison Pruitt, Kiley Blair, Brody Quattlebaum, and Ethan Jack, and great-grandchildren, Barrett Pruitt and Thomas Pruitt.

David was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served his country with honor and distinction. His dedication to service was matched by his academic achievements, having earned a degree in Criminal Justice that underscored his commitment to upholding the principles of law and order.

A man of faith, David was a long-standing member of Hodgesville Baptist Church, where he found solace and community. His love for Tennessee football was well-known among his friends and family, and his passion for the outdoors was evident in his favorite pastimes, which included fishing and whittling. These hobbies were not just a way to pass the time; they were a reflection of David’s creative spirit, which he shared generously with those around him.

David is also survived by his siblings, Bobby Medley, Judy Short, and Wendy Dever (Brian), who will remember him for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his ability to bring warmth and light into every room. He was a man who lived his life with purpose and joy, touching the lives of many with his generosity and his unwavering positivity.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, June 6, 2025 from Hodgesville Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Woodham and Brother Wayne Quattlebaum officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Pruitt, Caleb Foster, Dylan Medley, Rob Nand, Hunter Medley, and Ethan Jack.
