
Donald Eugene Letourneau of Black, Alabama passed away peacefully at home with his children by his side on May 22, 2025, at the age of 90.
He was born on December 27, 1934, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to his late parents, Joseph Sylvio and Helen Dufresne Letourneau. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nina Durant Letourneau; his 3 brothers, Ronald, Rene, and Norman Letourneau and his 2 sisters, Rita Smith and Cecile Lamothe.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford with Rev. Jesse Hobbs officiating. Burial followed in Hartford City Cemetery with Shelby Lett of Bottoms Garden Chapel directing.
Donald will be remembered by his 3 children, Theresa (Jerry) Evers of St. Augustine, Florida, Steven (Rhonda) Letourneau of Phippsburg, Maine, and Patricia (Donald) Whitaker of Black, Alabama; his 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and his wife Ida Mae Dixon Letourneau.
Donald served in the Navy as an aviation machinist mate for 4 years. He was a hard worker and provider for his family. He moved his family from Massachusetts to Black, Alabama in 1971 where he built his home. He was a trucker for many years before retiring at 62. His dream was to travel the country and go camping with his wife in their RV after retirement. He loved the outdoors, loved to mow the lawn, do woodworking, and sunbathe by the pool. He also loved to play baseball and watch it on TV. The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox were his favorite teams. He also loved his best friend and companion of 16 years, his dog, Rusty.
