Eric B. Capps, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025  at Noland Hospital. He was 85.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1PM – 2PM at the church.

Eric was born in Geneva County on May 31, 1939 to the late John and Ada Baker Capps. He attended Geneva County High School, where he met and later married the love of his life, Becky Welch Capps, and they were married for 68 years. Eric always referred to Becky as “the luckiest woman in Dothan”. After moving to Columbus, Georgia to work many years for Central of Georgia Railway, he moved back to the Dothan, retiring after twenty six years as the parts manager for the City of Dothan. His favorite hobbies included fishing, boating, going to the beach, and riding “Clyde”, his zero-turn mower. Eric loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for forty-nine years. His most cherished times were making lasting memories with his family, with a special fondness for his grands and great grands. Eric was loved by all because he LOVED ALL.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Luke Weeks.

Eric is survived by his wife; children, Donna Weeks (Bruce), Tonda Marsee (John), and Dwain Capps (Monica); grandchildren, Matthew Bullard (Rachel), Hailey Mick (John), Heather Capps, Whitney Sanders (Spencer), Claire Mitchell (Eric), and Bradley Capps (Kristie); fifteen great grandchildren; and sister, Rita Gibbs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Bradley Capps, Max Lanier, Sam Bullard, Bennett Sanders, Spencer Sanders, and Tony Welch.
