Mr. James Richard Chapman, a resident of Pinckard, Alabama, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025, at his home. He was 87 years old. Funeral services for Mr. Chapman will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 31, 2025, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Ray Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Pinckard Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Mr. Chapman was born August 15, 1938 in Dale County, Alabama to the late William Thomas Chapman and Ibbie Frances Edmonds Chapman. He lived his entire life in the Pinckard area. Mr. Chapman worked with the various maintenance contractors at Fort Rucker as a Supply Clerk until his retirement following forty years of service. Mr. Chapman owned and operated Chapman Small Engine in Pinckard for many years. He was a Master Mason with Claybank Masonic Lodge 908 for over sixty years. He loved to work in his garden and never missed an opportunity to go fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelyn Mercer Petty Chapman; several sisters and brothers; and his son-in-law, Jerry Fulford. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Donnie Turner of Pinckard, Lynda Fulford of Newton; five grandchildren, Christopher Hartzog (Brandy), Natalie West (Jared), Paige Culp (Andrew), Heather Prickett (Bradley) and Stephanie Jackson; fourteen great grandchildren, Andrew Hartzog, William Hartzog, Judah West, Malachi West, Fisher Culp, Henry Culp, Harley Culp, Brittany Thibeault (Jared), Mason Prickett, Haylee Fulford, Chasity Hoskins, Hannah Jackson, Mary Gilley and Noah Owens; two great-great grandchildren, Alyssa Thibeault and Axel Thibeault. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
