Mr. Larry Hugh Palmer

Mr. Larry Hugh Palmer, age 82, a resident of Pansey, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Watermark Church in Ashford with Pastor Todd Thorpe and Pastor Dean Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Cowarts Baptist Church Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:15 pm on Wednesday at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Watermark Church, 103 Elmer Road, Ashford, Alabama 36312.

Mr. Palmer was born in Houston County, Alabama to the late David Audrey and Edith Maude Whitehurst Palmer on June 13, 1944. He was raised in Cowarts, Alabama and was a 1962 graduate of Ashford High School. He later married his wife, Jan Tolar, in 1967. They raised their family in Cowarts and in 1992 moved to the family farm in Pansey, Alabama. In 1969 he founded Palmer Electric Construction Company and worked there until his death. Mr. Palmer enjoyed working, repairing and restoring things, and being on the tractor bush hogging. He loved his family and watching his grandchildren play ball. He had a servant’s heart and loved to serve the Lord and his church. Over the years, he served as deacon at Watermark Church in Ashford, and charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Cowarts.

Mr. Palmer is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Edith Carole Palmer.

Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife, Jan Tolar Palmer of Pansey; son, David Palmer (Kendall) of Dothan; daughter, Luci Adams (Dr. Craig) of Headland; four grandchildren, Tyler Adams (Anna) of Edison, Georgia, Davis Adams (Jesilyn) of Birmingham, Anna Caroline Pahmeier (Jonathan) of Dothan, and Camille Palmer of Homewood; three great grandchildren, Desmond, Robin, and Ida Grace Adams; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Adams, Davis Adams, Jonathan Pahmeier, John Gray, Joe Tolar, and Martin Pilcher.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dwan Pilcher, Gene Womack, and the Ashford True Value Crew.
