Michael Payton Haisten, of Dothan, Alabama, was born on September 15, 1953, and entered his eternal home on May 17, 2026, at the age of 72. He was the beloved son of the late Payton and Ruby Haisten.

Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family. He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart, and nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with them and sharing in their lives.

Mike had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and bowling. He was a hardworking man who took pride in all he did. He worked for Shadetree Nursery and later for Dick’s Sporting Goods, where he served as Team Lead in the Lodge Department. Mike truly loved his work and found great fulfillment in helping others.

Mike had a remarkable gift for making people smile and laugh. His kind heart, sense of humor, and genuine love for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His life was marked by love, compassion, and enduring friendships. Known for his kind heart and wonderful sense of humor, Mike had a special gift for making people smile and laugh. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. His love, compassion, and genuine spirit touched countless lives and created friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Payton and Ruby Haisten; his beloved daughter, Bethany Haisten Tatum; and his parents-in-law, Claude and Neva Williams.

He is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Haisten; his daughters, Lori Haisten and Mandy (Robert) Thagard; his brother, Cliff (Donna) Haisten; and his cherished grandchildren, Rayleigh and Alex Thagard, Payton Tatum, and Lane (Anna) Tatum. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, Alabama, with Chaplain Darryl Bates officiating.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to hospice team Tameka, Jeslen, Taylor, Tiffany, Tina and Flori; also to Debra and SARCOA, for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided throughout Mike’s illness.

Pallbearers will be Robert Thagard, Alex Thagard, Payton Tatum, Lane Tatum, Jay Haisten, Josh Haisten, Robin Meadows, Claue Greiner, and Brandon Price and Will Price.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Haisten, Russell Lee, Jackie Haisten, Max Ward, J.R. Hulvey, Steve Enfinger, Randy Hill, Tom Ogletree, Freddy Klapal, and Trey Mobley.

Mike will be remembered for the unwavering love he had for his family, his generous heart, his infectious laughter, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and will be treasured forever.
