Mr. Zin Eugene Weed, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on October 11, 2025 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Florida. He was 90.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2025 in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM with Rev. Brandon Acree officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Interment will follow at Tabernacle Church Cemetery in Hartford.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM and continuing until service time.

Mr. Weed was born on Saturday, October 13, 1934 to the late Zin Riley and Susie Spurlock Weed, in Midland City, Alabama. He was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and part of the Nursing Home outreach program. Zin also served his country through the U.S. Navy and worked with Twitchell Textile before owning and operating the Weed Corporation. He enjoyed and loved fishing in his spare time but his greatest love was being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Zin also enjoyed keeping his mind active by solving the world’s problems with his coffee group at McDonalds.

In addition to his parents; son, Michael Rex Bonner; two brothers: Gerald and Tex all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his beautiful bride, Bonnie Annette Weed; sons: Stan Weed (Sonya), Stephen Weed (Alicia); grandchildren: Jarrod Weed (Melanie), Jeremy Weed (Kayla), Clay Weed (Leslie), Kailey Johnson (Kyle), Kacey Acree (Brandon), Klara Beth Weed; great grandchildren: Dax Weed, Ava Weed, Kora Johnson, Kinley Johnson, and another one expected in November; sister-in-law, Barbara Weed; special nephew, Jackie Waters (Amy);  numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
