Mrs. Carolyn Ann Smith Womack, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 81.

Born on December 21, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama, Mrs. Womack was the daughter of the late Morgan Vincent Smith and Viona LaCoste Smith. She was a graduate of Murphy High School and attended Auburn University. While at Auburn, she met William Alexander Womack, Jr. (Bill). They were married in 1964 and together owned and operated Rocky Creek Farms in Ashford, Alabama.

Mrs. Womack was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was enriched by her creativity, her passion for gardening, and her deep love of animals. She had a particularly keen interest in sewing, quilting, cooking, and painting—skills she practiced with joy and shared generously with others. She was also a dedicated and hardworking caretaker of her yard, which she nurtured with patience and pride.

Known for her imaginative spirit and fearless nature, Mrs. Womack approached life with curiosity, confidence, and determination.

Mrs. Womack was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William Alexander Womack, Jr. (Bill).  She was the proud mother of Valerie Womack Morgan (Harrison) of Atlanta, Georgia;

Vicki Womack Kleindienst (Michael) of Uerkheim, Switzerland; Vivian Womack Galletly (Trey) of Marietta, Georgia; and Andrea Womack Howell of Dothan, Alabama. Mrs. Womack also took immense pride in her nine grandchildren, loving every opportunity to celebrate their milestones: Gero Alexander Kleindienst, Lillian Claire Morgan, William Harris Galletly, Bannie Margaret Galletly, Peter Julius Kleindienst, William Harrison Morgan, Virginia Everette Howell, Beatrice Louise Galletly, and Henry James Howell. She is also survived by her sister, Viona Smith Rice, of Brentwood, Tennessee.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13th at Ward Wilson Funeral Home, Dothan, Alabama from 5-6:30 pm.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 14th at 10 am to honor Mrs. Womack’s life at the Ashford City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to Dothan Botanical Gardens.

The family appreciates the selfless and difficult work of SouthernCare Hospice and a special thanks to the lovely women of Collins Journey who provided comfort and unwavering support to Mrs. Womack.

Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory, (334) 792-4194, is in charge of arrangements.
