Obituary from Holman Funeral Home of Ozark – Ozark, Alabama

 Dr. Diane Doty Holman passed away peacefully, August 1, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 79 years old.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 9, 2025, in the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, Alabama with Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower officiating.  Burial will be in the Holman Family plot in Claybank Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall below the sanctuary at the church Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until service time.

Diane was born in Savannah, Georgia, November 5, 1945, to Wyly and Cler Doty. They moved to Atlanta Georgia graduating from high school in 1963. She attended Auburn University, where she met Charles Holman, and on August 15, 1964 they were wed and would spend the next 60 years together. They set out on a life together that would take them from California to the Philippines and many places in between. Diane was a kindergarten teacher for many years and then went back to school to get her doctorate in education from Florida State University. She then became the Principal of Lisenby Elementary School and also the Assistant Superintendent of Ozark City Schools. She was a woman of many hobbies including cooking, gardening, Auburn football, but by far quilting was her true passion. Along with her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her son, John Clinton Holman.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Holman; daughter, Pam Kehoe; son Robert Holman; and two grandchildren, Zoe and Ben Kehoe.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her memory by contributing to the First United Methodist Church of Ozark Music Fund, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Ozark Boys and Girls Club, 195 Martin Luther King Avenue, Ozark, Alabama  36360,  to support youth who may not have access to high-quality art instruction.
