Mrs. Doris Virginia Whitman Creel, age 94, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Westside Terrace in Dothan.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Memory Hill Cemetery with the Reverends Bob Gross and Tim Willis officiating. The family will visit with friends following services at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 West Main St., Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Mrs. Creel was born on January 1, 1931, in Ozark, the daughter of the late Orie Whitman and Lucille Andrews Whitman. She grew up in Ozark and was a 1949 Graduate of Dale County High School in Ozark. Doris was a southern lady of many talents. She enjoyed needlework, such as embroidery and cross stitch. She was an excellent seamstress, making beautiful clothing for her daughter, Beverly, and her first granddaughter, Laura. Mrs. Creel had a love and talent for designing flowers, along with making art and designs from different types of leaves. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Dothan for over 60 years, where she served in many capacities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Eugene Creel; daughter-in-law, Susan Creel; four sisters, Elizabeth, Maureen, Merle and Helen.
Survivors include her son, Douglas Creel (Patti), Dothan; daughter, Beverly Tally (Bill), Scottsboro; four grandchildren, Jake Creel (Jordan), Dothan; Katie Bridell (Griff), Birmingham; Laura Hobbs (Alex), Kansas City, Mo.; Will Tally (Samantha), Atlanta, Ga.; 4 great-grandchildren, John Tally, Lottie Bridell, Susie Bridell and Jac Creel; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to share its appreciation for the loving care she received from Grand South Senior Living, Westside Terrace and Dayspring Hospice.
