Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Dothan, Alabama, officiated by Reverend Charles Cummings. Following the service, Jo Ann will be laid to rest at Memory Hill Cemetery, under the guidance of Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather in the church parlor starting at 11:30 AM to share memories and honor her life.

Born on June 27, 1937, in Rome, Georgia, Jo Ann was the eldest of two siblings, the daughter of the late Carter and Margaret Hall. Her father, Carter, passed away when Jo Ann was just a baby. Her mother, Margaret, later remarried the late Hugh Youngblood, who lovingly embraced Jo Ann and her sister, Linda, and together they welcomed two more children, Sue and Don.

The family relocated to Pensacola, Florida, for a brief period when Jo Ann was in the eighth grade. They later settled in Dothan, where Jo Ann attended Young Junior High School and graduated from Dothan High School in 1955.

Following graduation, Jo Ann moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she began her career as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines. On April 8, 1962, she married the love of her life, Larry Morris, at First United Methodist Church in Dothan. Their enduring love story spanned 62 beautiful years and was blessed with two children, Landy and Joey. In 1970, the family moved to Florida to support Larry’s burgeoning real estate career, living in Fort Myers, Clearwater, and ultimately calling Destin home for 40 years. In 2023, they relocated to Fairhope, Alabama, to be closer to their son Joey. Along her journey, Jo Ann obtained her real estate license and worked in the field and for many years worked at Capopies, a long time ladies clothing boutique in Destin, Florida, where she made many lifelong friends.

Jo Ann was a dedicated member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church during her upbringing in Dothan and later became a devoted member of Destin United Methodist Church. Family and faith were the cornerstones of her life. Jo Ann was a loving and selfless wife, mother, and grandmother, always prioritizing the needs of her family. Even in her later months, when mobility became challenging, she was still asking what she could do for any visitors or what they needed and was always eager to hear about her grandchildren. Described as spunky, nurturing, and devoted, Jo Ann embodied a spirit that will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Morris; her son, Landy Morris; her parents, Hugh and Margaret Youngblood; her sister, Sue Ivey, and her husband, Bill; her brother-in-law, Alfred Vann; and her brother, Don Youngblood. Jo Ann is survived by her son, Joey Morris, and his fiancé, Tonya Gollotte, of Fairhope, Alabama; her sister, Linda Vann, of Dothan, Alabama; and her cherished grandchildren: Andrew Morris of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Patrick Morris of Fairhope, Alabama; William Morris and his fiancé, Katie Morand, of Hoschton, Georgia; and Anna Louise Morris of Denver, Colorado. Jo Ann also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart.

In honoring Jo Ann’s memory, let us celebrate her unwavering love and the indelible impact she made on all who knew her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jo Ann’s caregiver, Holly Diana, whose kindness, compassion, and loving heart brought comfort and peace to Jo Ann during her final months.
