Ora Belle Todd, was called home to the Lord on June 5th, 2025. Born on July 6th, 1932, in the quaint town of Campbellton, Florida, Ora Belle was a remarkable woman and generous to all who knew her. She departed this earthly realm, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering strength.
Ora Belle was the cherished daughter of the late Johnnie Williams and Nellie Curry Williams. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 74 years, Roscoe Todd, Sr. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and enduring commitment. Ora Belle was a loving mother to her children, the late Roscoe Todd, Jr., the late Carolyn Williams, and her surviving daughter, Marilyn Todd and son-in-law, McArthur Williams. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Gladys M. Todd, Roscoe Oliver Todd, Orethia Todd-Tolson, Johan Laurent, Branden Todd, and Maya Grubbs, as well as her numerous great-grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward.
Ora Belle was the sister to Geraldine Morris (Willie), the late Dean Williams, Helen Thomas (Rayfield), and Oralisha Williams. Her life was a testament to the bonds of family, and she extended her love and generosity to her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends who became family in her heart.
Throughout her life, Ora Belle was a pillar of her community where she resided in Miami, Florida, the majority of her adult life before retiring and moving to Alabama. She worked tirelessly as a caregiver, pouring her heart into the well-being of others. Alongside her family, she ran Todd’s Hardware/Bait and Tackle, a cornerstone of the local economy, and helped her husband manage their real estate properties with a keen eye and a warm smile. Her work ethic was matched only by her spirit of service and her dedication to her family and community.
Ora Belle was a Proverbs 31 woman through and through. She found solace and strength in the Psalms and lived her life with a sweet spirit that was both fearless and kind. She stood her ground and spoke her mind, embodying the grace and dignity of a true Southern lady. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was a friend to all, never hesitating to extend a helping hand or a word of encouragement. Her children and her family were the very heart of Ora Belle. She nurtured them with love, guided them with wisdom, and supported them with unwavering faith. Her love for camping and fishing, her joy in music and dancing, love of cooking and baking (-especially her mac and cheese and pound cakes), and her fondness for her feline companions reflected the richness of her life. As a military wife, she embraced the adventure of travel, even learning to speak French, and brought a sense of home to every corner of the globe she visited.
