Mrs. Sheron (Sherry) Doster Powell, age 81, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday March 8, 2025, at her residence after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Mount Gilead Baptist Church with Dr. Bradley Rushing officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.

The family will be receiving friends from 9:00 am until 9:45 am on Tuesday at the church prior to services.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 2864 S. Brannon Stand Rd., Dothan, AL, 36305.

Mrs. Powell was born on November 1, 1943 in Dothan, the daughter of Howard Benjamin Doster and Joyce Johns Doster.  She retired as a cosmetic sales associate after 40 years, during that time working at Claudines, Gayfers and Dillards.  Sherry was an active member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church where she, along with her husband, served as Sunday School teachers and were active in the Senior Adults Group, Young at Heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Suellen Payne and a brother, Benny Doster.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Charles Powell, Dothan; 1 daughter Denice Papac (Steve) of Rehobeth; 2 sisters Joy Doster Mostellar (Jack) of Mobile and Lee Doster Chandler (Kenneth) of Huntsville; 5 grandchildren Mindy Bui (Daniel) of Freeport, Jamie Whitehurst of Webb, Shelby Kiker (Kalen) of San Angelo, TX, Ashleigh Papac of Rehobeth and Lacey Papac of Rehobeth; 7 great-grandchildren Harper Bui, Lennox Bui, Cameron Whitehurst, Serenity Whitehurst, Josiah Whitehurst, Madelyn Kiker and Tripp Eason; 5 nephews and 4 nieces.

The family would like to extend a special thanks Gentiva Hospice and her sitters Taretha, Mary and Trina.
