Ms. Flora Pauline Lane Cobb


Ms. Flora Pauline Lane Cobb, a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at her home. She was 93.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Big Creek United Methodist Church with Reverend Jonathon Noble and Dr. Brian Salter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m., at the church prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Creek United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Highway 605, Cottonwood, Alabama 36320.

Ms. Cobb was born on January 16, 1933, in Houston County, Alabama to Leon and Pansy Gertrude Green Cobb. She spent her early years growing up in the Rehobeth area. She attended Chipola Junior College, Troy University, Florida State, Auburn University, University of Alabama, and Samford University. She received a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree as well as an AA degree, and was one thesis short of receiving a doctorate degree. Ms. Cobb taught for many years and later retired as a Federal Program Director from the Houston County Board of Education. Ms. Cobb was a member of the AARP, Houston County Teachers Association, and Big Creek United Methodist Church. She loved to travel, especially to the beach in the fall. She enjoyed singing at church and being a part of her prayer warrior group, but most of all, she enjoyed her time spent with family.

Ms. Cobb is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Lane; son, David Lane; brothers, Rusty, Donald and Herbert Cobb; and sister, Jeanette Napier.

Survivors include her son Larry Lane (Mary) of Dothan; daughter in law, Sheila Lane of Dothan; grandchildren, Tara Parris (Michael), Michelle Hatcher (Casey), David Lane II, Erika Bowden (Wes); great grandchildren, Caleb Smith, Taylor Blake Gilbert, Ella Parris, Mason Parris, Laney Kate Hatcher, Hamilton Hatcher, Addie Bowden, Ben Bowden, and CoCo Bowden; special granddaughter, Brooke Spivey; and several nieces and nephews.  

Serving as pallbearers are Christian Traedge, Drew Traedge, Wes Bowden, Allen Corbin, Landon Corbin, and Josh Lee.
