Ms. Lynda Camille Cherry Sherer, age 78, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Flowers Hospital.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. David R. Saliba and Reverend Matt Langford officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 12:45 PM until 1:45 PM in the parlor of First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Respite Care Ministry 1380 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Ms. Camille Sherer was born on February 19, 1947 in Dothan to Mr. Samuel Alex and Mrs. Annie Lee Stokes Cherry. She graduated from Dothan High School in 1965 where she was a majorette. She later worked at Houston Academy for twenty-seven years as a daycare teacher, and a kindergarten and first-grade aid. Ms. Camille Sherer enjoyed spending time walking with her friends at the Wiregrass Commons Mall and was a daily customer of Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Shop. She was an avid Auburn and Atlanta Braves fan and cheered for them proudly, along with her special friend of twenty-five years, Mr. Wilton Thompson. She attended First United Methodist Church.
Ms. Camille Sherer was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Maria Cherry; and brother-in-law, Judge Sorrells.
Her legacy lives on in the lives of her friend, Wilton Thompson of Ozark; her children, John M. Sherer, Jr. (Kristin) and Allison Sherer Hart (Kirby), both of Dothan; brother, Sam Cherry (Sharon); sister, Gloria Cherry Sorrells, both of Dothan; grandchildren, Caroline Baker (Christian), Mary Ellen Hart, Annie Hart, J. Sherer, Patrick Sherer, Shelby Branch; several very special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Moss, Charlie Babb, Christian Baker, Jackson Sneed, J. Sherer, Patrick Sherer, Jody Sorrells, and Ben Irwin.
