Nellie Fay (Martin) Pope Collins


Nellie Fay (Martin) Pope Collins, 93, a life-long resident of Dothan, passed away on, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at her residence following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2025, at Glover Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m., prior to the service.

Nellie was born December 18, 1931, to the late Hilliard Thomas Martin Sr. and Lelia Davis Martin. She was a 1950 graduate of Rehobeth High School. Following graduation she attended Riley School of Business, earning her associate degree in Bookkeeping. Nellie primarily worked in the banking industry, as well as the bookkeeper for Memphis Baptist Church. She loved gardening, and was a member of Olympia Garden Club, proudly serving as Chairperson. Nellie has been a member of Selma Baptist Church for the last 32 years and formerly attended Memphis Baptist Church.

She is preceded by her parents; her two husbands, Robert Leroy Pope, and Donald L. Collins; her son, Ronald Martin Pope; her grandson, Daryl Robert Pope Jr.; her seven siblings, Robert Martin, Lounette Martin Williams, Floyd Martin, Roy Martin, Louie Martin, Hilliard Thomas Martin Jr., and Arthur Martin.

She is survived by her two children, Freida Swicord (Hugh) of Dothan, and Daryl Pope (Tammy) of Albany, GA; her seven grandchildren, Brandon Pope of Valdosta, GA, Laura Elizabeth Swicord of Pensacola, FL, Charles Swicord III of Auburn, Davis Swicord of Charleston, SC, Benjamin Swicord (Jackie) of Auburn, Chelsea Harvey (Christopher) of Albany, GA, and Lauren Sparks of Panama City; one great-grandchild, Grey Harvey; and several nieces and nephews.
