Obituary: Paul Eugene Taylor
1st Sgt. (R) Paul Eugene Taylor of Enterprise passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2015 peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was 77.
Memorial services with full military honors will be at 6:00pm on Friday, February 6, 2015 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise with Reverend Chris Adams officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening beginning at 5:00pm and continuing until service time. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in memory of Paul by contacting the family for correct addresses of where donations can be made.
Paul was born on December 17, 1937 in Prichard County, Alabama to the late Perry Lawrence and Ruby Oleta Byrd Taylor. In addition to his parents, a son, Paul E. Taylor Jr., granddaughter, Lindsey M. McCune, grandson, Jackson Cole Taylor- Smith all preceded him in death.
Paul served 26 years in the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, upon retiring in 1982 he continued to serve his country in the Civil Service at Ft. Rucker, AL where he retired in 2007 with a combined total of 50 years specializing in the Air Traffic Control Field. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, challenging crossword puzzles, and Alabama football. He was also a mentor to his grandchildren which gave him the most pleasure. His greatest love was his Lord and Savior, seconded only by his family. Paul was blessed with many friends and extended family.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Wanda R. Pettit Taylor, daughter Angela McCune(Jay), Kansas City, MO; son, James Taylor (Torey), Peoria, AZ; daughter Lita Taylor Murray, Enterprise; nieces Diane Whipple, Ft. Worth, TX; Karen Clark (Robert), Arlington, TX; six grandchildren: Lauren McCune, JJ McCune, Morgan James Murray, Matthew Murray, Elizabeth Taylor, and Jacob Taylor.
