Addie Reid Montgomery

Addie Reid Montgomery departed this life on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at her home in Dothan, AL. She was born on January 13, 1933 to the late Henry and Octavia Ellis Benson in Farmerville, LA. She was a private nurse in Cleveland, OH for 35 years until she retired. After retirement she relocated to Dothan, AL for 36 years. Our mother was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Dothan, AL.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 11:30 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Donald Boone officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 am until service time. Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn, and social distancing guidelines observed.

She is predeceased by husbands Otha Reid and Ollie Montgomery and together they had 7 children. She was a devoted wife and mother. Family was the most important thing to her, and she was very compassionate about the family being unified. She was known for her quick wit and blunt honesty.

Addie is predeceased by two brothers: Huey Benson and Ellis Benson, four sisters: Corrine Coleman, Vera Penix, Ollie Roberson, and Zuella Roberts and two grandchildren: Otis Price and Jantwaine Price.

Addie leaves to cherish her memories seven children: Dorothy Price, Helen Taylor, James Montgomery (Cathy), Barry Montgomery (Jameela), Terry Montgomery, Diane Betha, Yolanda Grace (John), Thirty-Nine Grandchildren; Twenty-one Great-Grandchildren and fourteen Great-Great Grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
