First Sergeant (US Army, Retired) Adrian E. Badger of Enterprise passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at his residence while surrounded by his family. He was 73.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Mynatt and Reverend Jim Duhaime officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the church Monday beginning at 12:00 and continuing until service time.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Adrian Badger, Master Sergeant (Retired) Joseph Lee Badger, Staff Sergeant John A. Badger, Joshua Christopher Badger, Stanley (Butch) Lintz, and Thomas David Saum. Honorary pallbearer will be Sean Robert Crowell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 500 Alberta Street, Enterprise, AL 36330 or to Dayspring Hospice, PO Box 311246, Enterprise, AL 36331.
Adrian was born August 1, 1941 in Hartland, Maine to Halver Lester Badger and the late Maxine Ruth Tapley Badger. He served two tours in Vietnam with 1st Cavalry Division, retiring as a First Sergeant from the United States Army after 23 ½ years. During his time in service, he received many awards, including Bronze Star w/”V” Device, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal w/”V” Device & Numeral “14”, Army Commendation Medal w/1OLC, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal w/7th Award Loop, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 2 Campaign Stars, Korean Defense Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon w/ “4” Device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon w/ “4” Device, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Aviator’s Badge, and 1st Cavalry Division Combat Service Badge. He was also a retired private government contractor, serving in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm and receiving the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. He graduated from MCI of Pittsfield, Maine, and the Army Aviation Technical College of Ozark, and additionally attended Troy State University for three years. He was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was also a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen W. Lints; 2 uncles: Keith Tapley and Reverend Burt Tapley; his parents-in-law, Roy and Nellie Saum; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Badger.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Sherrie Badger of Enterprise; 2 daughters: Cathy Lints (Butch) of Daleville, Shanon Badger (Henrik) of Denmark; 3 sons: Christopher Badger (Judi) of Enterprise, Master Sergeant (US Air Force, retired) Joseph Badger of Oxford, AL, and Staff Sergeant (US Army National Guard) John Badger (Jennifer) of Enterprise; his father, Halver Lester Badger; 3 brothers: Rodrick Badger of Hartland, ME, Keith Badger (Brenda) of Hartland, ME, and Kermit Badger (Darlene) of St. Albans, ME; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
