Albert Lyle Peluso, 91, a resident of Midland City, AL passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at his residence.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joseph Cummings officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mr. Peluso was born in Acqui Terme, Italy February 10, 1927 while his mother Martha was visiting her parents. He was a dedicated Christian and attended Vineyard Church in Dothan, Alabama pastored by his son Lyle Peluso. He was blessed as he saw his grandchildren grow up and enjoyed all eight of his great grandchildren. Albert attended New Brighton High School in Pennsylvania and played football and basketball. He served WW2 in the Navy on the USS Macon which was a part of the shakedown cruise to West Indies and Cuba, Haiti, Hispanol. After the war he continued his education as a freshman at Penn State and played for Penn State and had an undefeated season. He played two more years and as a Junior he broke his wrist and transferred to Geneva College for 1949 and 1950 and played Football for them. The 1950 football season his Geneva College football team only lost one game. Later in life, Albert Peluso was inducted into the New Brighton High School Football Hall of Fame, Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame April 20, 1997. In 1958 he began teaching and coaching at his Alma Mater, New Brighton High School, until his retirement in 1989. In addition to teaching he served as head baseball coach, assistant football coach, and Athletic Director until he retired. In retirement he enjoyed officiating high school basketball games and volleyball games in Pennsylvania and Alabama.


He is survived by his wife, Irene Peluso of 66 years; his son Lyle Peluso (wife Beverly); sister Mary Louise Spickerman (husband Richard); brother Frank Peluso; two grandchildren Lyle Peluso, Jr. (wife Meagan) and Deidre Peluso Frith; eight great-grandchildren, Dayton Peluso (wife Katie), Jillian Peluso, Ty Stone, Levi Stone, Samuel Peluso, Benjamin Peluso, Parker Frith and Campbell Frith.


He is predeceased by his father Louis Peluso, mother Martha Peluso, brothers Samuel Peluso and Louis Peluso Jr, sister Frances Peluso Frischkorn.


To honor the wishes of Albert Peluso, in lieu of flowers, that a donation would be made in his honor to Living Hope Community Center, P.O. Box 365, Dothan, AL 36302-0365. Every gift given in his name will be acknowledged by the family.
