Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Rehobeth Cemetery with Rev. Travis Free and Rev. Chad Hixson officiating. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Rehobeth Baptist Church Future Now Fund, 4444 South State Highway 605, Rehobeth, AL 36301.
Aleene Murphy Branton passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Westside Terrace in Dothan, Alabama.

Aleene was born on June 14, 1928 in the Rehobeth Community to the late John Henry and Doshie Murphy. She graduated from Rehobeth High School in 1946. After attending Riley’s Business College, she began her life’s work at Farmer’s Milling Company in Dothan, Alabama.
Aleene was very active in Rehobeth Baptist Church. She was dedicated to the choir, Sunday School, Church Trianing, and helping with Vacation Bible School. No one enjoyed Gospel music any better than Aleene Branton. She and her friends made many trips to hear gospel groups.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burnett Branton, her brother, Johnny Ralph Murphy, her sisters, Katrine (Carl) Cobb, Irene (Chester) Graham, and by her great niece, Denese Dismukes.
Survivors include her nephew, Bobby (Sue) Cobb; her nephew, Donald (Anne) Graham; her niece, Elaine (Jerry) Bruner; her great nephew, Michael A. Cobb; her great niece, Laura Watford; other nieces and nephews, Nathan Watford, John David Watford, Toni Cannon, Coleman Cannon, Hudson Cannon, Zachary McMurphy Cobb, and Mikael O’Neal Holzhauer.
The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s, and staff of Westside Terrace for their care and concern during Aleene Murphy’s time on Mulberry Lane and Willow Way.
