Alice Faye “Dot” Gatlin Merritt of Freeport, FL passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024. She was 81 years old.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Andy Kogutz officiating and Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing.

Dot was born in Elba, AL on April 24, 1942, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Alice Wooten Gatlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Eldon Merritt; three brothers, Talmas O. Gatlin (Inez), Alma G. Gatlin (Ruth), and Lewis H. Gatlin.

She is survived by one son, Jeff Merritt of Freeport, FL; two sisters-in-law, Mae Gatlin of Enterprise, AL and Sara Grimes of Abbeville, AL; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
