TUMBLETON COMMUNITY….Allen Dykes Culp, a resident of the Tumbleton Community, near Headland, died Monday evening, September 28, 2015 at his home. He was 80.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 1, 2015,  in the Balkum Baptist Church with Reverend Tom Chestnut and Reverend Doug Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in the Balkum Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations directing. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Balkum Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 193, Headland, Alabama 36345.


            Mr. Culp was a native of Henry County near Tumbleton, son of the late Smith Culp and Earline Dykes Culp. He lived in Ozark most of his adult life before returning to Tumbleton in 2008. He served his country in the United States Army, serving two tours in Korea, was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Culp was retired from the Army National Guard Unit in Dothan. He was also retired as a heavy equipment mechanic with the United States Civil Service at Ft. Rucker. Mr. Culp was a life member of the D.A.V Chapter #87 in Dothan and was a member of the Balkum Baptist Church.


            Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Morgan Culp, Tumbleton; two daughters, Dianna Culp and Melinda Culp Parker, both of Nashville; three sons, Morgan Culp (Donna), Ozark, Dykes Culp, Birmingham, Ben Culp (Connie), Tumbleton; a sister, Roslyn VanderLinde, Ocala, FL; six grandchildren, Drew Culp, Hunter Parker, Phillip Culp, Amanda Parker, Addison Culp, and Mattie Kathryn Culp; two nieces, Tammy McQueen Kokot (Michael) and Connie McQueen Kramer (Mark); a sister-in-law, DeLane Shelley (Oneal), Tumbleton; a brother-in-law, Gus Morgan (Marla), LaGrange, GA.
