HEADLAND…Allyson Shelley Davis, a resident of Headland, died late Thursday night March 26, 2015, at her home. She was 87.


            Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 29, 2015, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the Ministry Center of the church.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church “Prayer Garden Fund”, 301 East Church Street, Headland, Alabama 36345.


            Mrs. Davis was a native of the Tolbert Community of Henry County, daughter of the late O.M. “Little Man” Shelley and Nellie Ophelia Mathis Shelley. She was a graduate of the Henry County High School in Headland and received a B.S. Degree in Nutrition from The University of Montevallo. Mrs. Davis attended graduate school at Duke University where she studied nutrition and later interned as a Registered Dietitian at Emory University in Atlanta. She was formerly employed as a Dietitian in Macon and Savannah, Georgia and in various Wiregrass healthcare facilities.


            Mrs. Davis was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Headland and its Joy Sunday School Class. She formerly volunteered at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Mac Seay “Shine” Davis.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Shelley Davis Jordan (Michael), Tuscaloosa; a son, Mac S. Davis, Jr. (Sandy), Headland; a sister, Sharon Shelley Maddox, Abbeville; five grandchildren, Walton Davis (Jaime), Alex Jordan, Davis Jordan, Jason Sharp (Amy), Andrew Sharp (Jaime); nine great-grandchildren; two nieces, Lisa Martin (Ben) and Shannon Robertson; a nephew, John Maddox.


            Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Betty Mitchell, June Shelley, Dethalia Armstrong and Louise Laye.
