Alma Anita Monk Stafford of Geneva, AL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Flowers Hospital. She was 70. 


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Joel Snell and Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.


The family will receive flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the: Samson Senior Center, 33 East Sellers St, Samson, AL 36477.


Mrs. Stafford was born in Geneva County, AL on April 9, 1946 to the late Alver Morgan and Mable Albena West Monk. Mrs. Anita loved making beautiful quilts and being part of the Samson Senior Center family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a member of the Holloway Tabernacle Assembly of God Church.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Stafford; three brothers, Willie, A.L., and Marshall Monk; two sisters, Bonnie Higgins and Mable Smith.


She is survived by one son, Michael A. Cardwell (Kim) of Geneva, AL; one step-son, Chris Stafford (Wilma) of Dothan, AL; two grandchildren, Sara Dodson (Zack), and Jamey Cardwell (Anna) all of Geneva, AL; two step-grandchildren, Chris Stafford, Jr of Orlando, FL, and Michelle Stafford of Dothan, AL; five great grandchildren, Levi, Logan, and Gracie Dodson of Geneva, AL, Tristan and Kendall Cardwell of Geneva, AL; one sister, Peggy Frary (Roland) of Samson, AL; two brothers, John Monk (Jeanette) of Malvern, AL, and Jimmy Monk (Annette) of Daleville, AL; and a  number of special nieces and nephews; special friends, Forrest and Charlotte Wright of Samson, AL, and Debra Preachers of Samson, AL.
