ALMA VICKERS CREEL
ABBEVILLE…Alma Vickers Creel, a resident of Abbeville, died Wednesday afternoon, January 22, 2014, in a Dothan hospital. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2014, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Randy Stokes and Bishop Jimmy Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, near Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Mrs. Creel was born and reared in Henry County, daughter of the late George Young Vickers and Gemima Victoria Wells Vickers. She lived in Abbeville most of her adult lifetime. Mrs. Creel owned and operated Alma’s Beauty Shop in Abbeville for over thirty years. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Creel was preceded in death by her husband, Homer M. Creel, three brothers, Arrington Vickers, Arthur Bryant Vickers, and John Homer Vickers.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Deborah Holley, and Wanda Holley, both of Eufaula; a son, Joey Holley and wife, Sara V. Holley, Abbeville; seven grandchildren, Deonne Kinkade Davis (Sam), Holli Kinkade Watford (Kevin), Stormy Kinkade Register (Dennis), Micah Payne Holley (Brooke), Nicholas Martin Adkison (April), Jonathan Heath Adkison (Bliss), and Joseph Clayton Adkison (Cristy); thirteen great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Heath Adkison, Clay Adkison, Kevin Watford, Dennis Register, Sam Davis, Micah Holley, Nick Adkison, and Hunter Watford.
