Alton William McDuffie (Buddy) passed away on June 6, 2023 due to complications of pneumonia.
Buddy was born in Samson, Alabama on October 28, 1938 to Alton and Agnes Redd McDuffie.
He spent almost all of his life in Samson and was a well know fixture about town. He graduated from Samson High School, Class of 1958, and later served in the National Guard in Samson. Following that service, Buddy worked in McDuffie Machine Shop acquiring skills in welding and mechanical assembly. He later worked with a group operating a mobile seed cleaner and finally worked several years at Fort Rucker in the Post Exchange.
Buddy could always be found at high school football, basketball, and baseball games. He also was a follower of Alabama football and cherished the trips to Tuscaloosa and Birmingham that he travelled with friends to attend games. At other times he was a regular patron of the King Drug Store or Wilson Store in Marl where he relished cheese crackers and a Coke.
Buddy was predeceased by his parents and his sister Faye Marie McDuffie and brother Terry Redd McDuffie (Shirley). He is survived by his sister Ann McDuffie Cannon (Dick) and a number of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
Buddy's life will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Minister Harry O. Adkison officiating. Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
