FT. GAINES, GEORGIA. . .Amelda Scott Freeman, a resident of Ft. Gaines, Georgia, died Monday February 25, 2019 at her home. She was 93.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. (E.S.T.) Thursday, February 28, 2019 in the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Hines officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M Thursday in the church sanctuary. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. (E.S.T.) Thursday, February 28, 2019 in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, Georgia. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations, Abbeville, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church “Youth Fund”, P.O. Box 248, Ft. Gaines, GA 39851.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, daughter of the late James Lee Scott and Mary Dora Roberts Scott. She lived most of her adult lifetime in Albany, Georgia before moving to Lake George in Clay County, Georgia in 2006. Mrs. Freeman was a member of the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church and was a former member of the Avalon United Methodist Church in Albany. She was retired from Independent Life & Accident Insurance Company in Albany. Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Freeman, Sr., a son, Albert Lee Freeman, seven sisters and two brothers.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Jo Ann Freeman Braxton (Bob), Ft. Gaines; a son, Dennis Freeman, Jr. (Elaine), Deer Park, TX; a brother, E. L. Scott, Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren, Suzanne Naranjo, Jessica Goodrum, Blythe Henderson, Hope Norris, Chris Woods, Keith Woods, Valerie Creamer and Robert Braxton, Jr.; eleven great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jimmy Creamer, Justin Creamer, Josh Judy, Chris Woods, Kevin Norris and Robert Braxton, Jr.
