Andrew R. M. Countryman, a resident of Dothan, passed away at UAB Hospital in Birmingham on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 following an extended illness. He was 71 years old.
Military honors will be held at 11 am on Tuesday June 21, 2022 in Sunset Memorial Park.
Andrew was born on October 22, 1950 in Warner Robins, Georgia to John and Ethel Cooper Countryman but moved around quite a bit with his military parents. He began his career in the US Air Force at the age of 20. He proudly served for 21 years and did two tours in Europe before his retirement. Following basic training he met the love of his life, Charlotte and they were happily married for 51 years and proudly adopted their son, Christopher in 1980. Andrew was also employed with PEMCO as an airplane mechanic for several years. He was a member of the Corvette Club, enjoyed photography, bird watching, and going to Lake Eufaula whenever he could.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Kenneth Countryman.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Charlotte Countryman; his son, Chris (Bruce) Countryman; his siblings, Nel Schroeder, Al Countryman, Roger (Linda) Sellers, Rhonda (Jerry) Newman, Kathy (Bill) Larson, and Janice (Sammy) Whaley; his mother-in-law, Nell Russell; his furry family members, Kitty Girl and Calico; and several nieces and nephews.
