Angelyn Joyce Pickett, 84, a resident of Kinsey passed away Monday, November 12, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
Mrs. Pickett was born December 9th, 1933 in Houston County and resided in Dothan most of her life. She was a 1952 graduate of Dothan High School, worked at McClintock and Associates, and The City of Dothan before focusing her attention fully at home with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandparent, and great-grandparent who enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, gardening with a particular interest in flower propagation. She was an active member of the Clover Home and Garden Club for over 50 years. Her love for Christ motivated her years of active membership in churches in the community during her life and included teaching Sunday School, singing in choirs and ensembles, and Women’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, James Pickett; son, Kyn (Gail) Pickett; daughter, Katrina (Stephen) Messer; grandchildren: Tricia (Mark) Bryant, Abbie Lynn Pickett, Milley Pickett, Hannah (Brady) Siemens, Caleb (Rebecca) Messer, Jonathan (Christine) Messer, and Micah (Jessica) Messer; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; three brothers, Luther (Barbara) Clearman, Colquitt, GA, David (Eloise) Clearman, Albany, GA, and Phillip (Libba) Clearman, Dothan.
Preceding Mrs. Pickett in death are her parents: Luther and Lula Clearman; sisters: Lucile, Jossie, Earline, Dorothy, and Francis; brother: Bill Clearman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Freewill Baptist Church of Dothan or Wiregrass Hope Group.
