KINSEY, ALABAMA. . . Ann Gilley Deerman, a resident of Kinsey, Alabama, died early Monday morning, December 22, 2014, at her home, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was 65.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 26, 2014, in the Comerford-Gilley Cemetery, Greenwood, Florida, with Dr. Thomas Batts officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Day Springs Christian Academy 4685 Meadow View Road, Marianna, Florida 32446.
Ann Gilley Deerman was born and reared in Grand Ridge, Florida, daughter of the late Paul Gilley and Earnestine Weddington Gilley. She was a 1968 graduate of Grand Ridge High School. In earlier years, Mrs. Deerman was employed by Chipola Mills Sewing Factory in Marianna. She was a graduate of Chipola Jr. College where she received a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mrs. Deerman retired in 2010 from the Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center, in Dothan, as a nurse. In earlier years, she was employed by the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee. Mrs. Deerman was preceded in death by two sisters, and three brothers.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Sheila Poole Starling (Ashley), Kinsey; a son, Mark Poole (Ashley), Sneads, FL; three grandchildren, Joshua Starling, Savannah Starling, and Emma Poole; two sisters, Emmalene Overby, and Helen Opry (David); four brothers, Willie Paul Gilley (Ruth), Jimmy Gilley (Penny), Jack Gilley (Ladonna), and Ernest Gilley.
