Ann Grimes Thompson, Age 70, of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at her residence.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 23rd at First Baptist Church of Dothan with Reverend Bob Gross officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30pm until 1:45pm prior to services in the sanctuary.
Ann was born on May 11, 1947 and grew up in Enterprise where she graduated from Enterprise High School Class of 1965. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and a graduate of Auburn University. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dothan, where she was a GA teacher for 18 years, an original member of the Girls Incorporated of Dothan, The Dothan Service League, The Azalea Garden and Study Club, and the Joy Holman Study Club. She was also a docent for the Wiregrass Museum of Art, teaching area students about her many world travels through her love of art, sculpting, and photography. Mrs. Thompson was a part of many philanthropic organizations in the community, as she always felt compassionate about giving to others with her time and resources.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. James and Eleanor Grimes of Enterprise.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill; children, Rachel Hughes (David) of Birmingham, Warren Thompson of Dothan, and Leah Gagnon (Phil) of Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Will and Luke Thompson, Josh and Matthew Hughes, Eleanor, Elizabeth and Mark Gagnon. Her siblings are Jean Bowline (Bailey) of Cumming, GA, Sally Pasley (Tyrie) of Auburn, Jim Grimes(Debbie) of Enterprise, Lucy Butler(Cy) of Dothan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Wiregrass Museum of Art, 126 Museum Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303 .
