It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and friend, Anne Hathcock Thomas, who departed this life on October 9, 2024, in Columbiana, Alabama. Born on March 25, 1942 in Dothan, Anne touched the lives of everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and laughter.
Anne’s radiant personality and captivating spirit shone brightly throughout her life. Her joyful essence was recognized when she was crowned Miss Dothan – an honor that highlighted her natural grace and charm. Anne attended Auburn University, where she excelled as a cheerleader, embodying the spirit of camaraderie that defined her character.
Throughout her early years in Dothan, Anne gathered profound experiences and bonds that formed the foundation of who she came to be. Her and her family’s later journey took them to Colorado, where Anne lived for many years, embracing the beauty of life amidst the breathtaking mountains and developing friendships that would last her a lifetime.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Edward and Evelyn Thompson Hathcock; her brother, Benjamin Edward (Ed) Hathcock Jr.; her sister, Lynne Hathcock Summerford; her son, Joseph Morgan Thomas Jr.; and nephews, Terrance Creel and Jon Michael Hill.
She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Kristin Cole (Rob); her beloved grandson, Jackson Cole, all of whom reside in Charlotte, North Carolina; her granddaughter, Carrie Sikes (Drew) of Nashville, Tennessee. Anne is also survived by her devoted sister, Carol Hill (Mike) of Columbiana; her loving brother, Dr. John Hathcock (Terri) of Auburn. Aunt Anne will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Anne’s life was filled with treasured connections and unforgettable memories. Whether she was cheering on her loved ones, cherishing family gatherings, or sharing stories that made everyone laugh, Anne radiated kindness and positivity.
As we celebrate the memories we hold dear, we invite family and friends to remember Anne for the beautiful soul she was.
