MIDLAND CITY. . .Annette Lewis Taylor, a former resident of Midland City, died early Sunday afternoon, August 4, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. She was 85.


            Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 8, 2024, in the Sylvan Grove Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Proffitt and Reverend Don Tew officiating and eulogies to be given by Cynthia Riley and Lynn Taylor. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sylvan Grove Methodist Church, 4495 County Road 14, Midland City, AL 36350 or Alzheimer’s  Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.


            Mrs. Taylor was born December 29, 1938 in Houston County but lived in the Sylvan Grove community, near Midland City, most of her lifetime. She was a member of the Sylvan Grove Methodist Church where she formerly sang in the church choir and was a member of the C.A.C.T.U.S. Ladies Club. In earlier years, Mrs. Taylor worked for Globe Motors as a Customer Service Supervisor. An avid Auburn football fan, she deeply loved her family, friends and church and was an excellent seamstress. Mrs. Taylor was a great wife and mother. She would rather give things away than keep them for herself. Mrs. Taylor collected Original Snow Village and has several hundred pieces in her collection. She was preceded in death by her father, Shellie T. Lewis, her mother, Bernice Kelly Lewis, her husband, Lewie A. “Sonny” Taylor, sisters, Betty Shirah and Charlotte Sipple and brothers, J.T. Lewis, Shellie Lewis and Thomas Junior Lewis and an infant sister.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Cynthia Riley (Dewayne), Midland City; a son, Lynn Taylor (Beth), Dothan; sisters, Erma Williams, Beverly Davis (Glynn), Sonia Long (Roger); and a brother, Bobby R. Lewis; a sister-in-law, Loretta Taylor Culpepper; numerous nieces and nephews; a special grand dog, “Brooks Riley”.
