Annette “Nanny” Jones
Annette “Nanny” Jones, a resident of Cowarts, left this earthly life Thursday, March 1, 2012, after suffering a severe stroke while attending church Wednesday night, one of her favorite places to be. She was 72.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Cowarts Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Freeman, Dr. Johnny Roberts, Rev. Coley Holloway and Rev. Tony Deese officiating. Burial will follow in Cowarts Baptist Church Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Cowarts Baptist Church.
Annette was born October 11, 1939 in Henry County, Alabama to parents C. W.”Bud” and Elizabeth Bowen. All that knew her, knew of her love and the service she gave to family, friends and her Savior Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, T. J. Jones.
Survivors include her loving husband, Billy Jones, Cowarts, AL; her children, Laronda and Tommy Still, Cowarts, AL, Kristy and Vensent Atterberry and Eugenia Jones, LaGrange, GA; grandchildren, Sara and Chase Madrie, Kellie Still and Nicholas Watford, and Dana Still, all of Cowarts, AL, Boyd and Rebekah Atterberry, Salt Lake City, UT, Zackery, Bethany, and Morgan Atterberry, LaGrange, GA, Cody and Andrew Jones, Cowarts, AL and Miranda Bryan, New Mexico; mother-in-law, Hortie Mae Jones, Cowarts, AL; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gene and Elaine Bowen, Montgomery, AL and Chris Bowen, Ashford, AL; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Fovitte and Cecil Whitehurst, Ashford, AL, Margarette and Buddy Stewart, Pansey, AL, Luverne DeVore, and Judy and Larue Lee, all of Ashford, AL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
All grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and the youth and college career groups of Cowarts Baptist Church and all area funeral directors.
