Annie ‘Mable’ Branton, age 98, of Dothan passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Allie Freeman officiating. A visitation will be held at 9:30 AM prior to the service in the church parlor. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery.
Miss Branton was born November 3, 1917 in Taylor, AL> to the late Early T. and Maude Kelly Branton. She was born in Taylor, AL and then her family moved to Altha, FL and later moved back to Taylor. She graduated from Dothan High School and attended Campbell Business College of Dothan. On December 26, 1941, she began her career with the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. She retired from the Department of Defense in 1975 as a Wage Specialist. Upon retirement she returned to Dothan and developed the Personnel Management Consulting Firm. She traveled extensively around the world because of her contractual responsibilities to the Department of State.
Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, golf, baseball, bridge, and travel. She was actively involved in her church. She delighted in the lives of her nieces and nephews and they in her. She treasured her life-long friends.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Grace Branton Watford; brother, James E. Branton; nephew, Jimmy Branton and great-nephew, Joshua Bruner.
Survivors include sister-in-law, Jean Hartley Branton, nieces, Linda Branton Bruner (Paul), and Sue Branton Dean (Ronnie), great nephews and nieces James Branton, Brandon Bruner (Trina), Nick Bruner (Ashley), Megan Dean and Lauren Dean and great-great nieces Selah and Mabel Kate Bruner.
Family will be accepting flowers or contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church, 1380 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL or to a Veteran’s Charity of your choice.
