ABBEVILLE. . .Annie Mae Robinson Holmes, a resident of Abbeville, died early Thursday morning, February 21, 2013, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 97.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 22, 2013, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Quincey and Gentiva Hospice Chaplain Paul Cowley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, c/o Henry Reynolds, 3945 County Road 40, Newville, AL 36353.


            Mrs. Holmes was born and reared in Henry County, near Abbeville, daughter of the late Henry Cleveland Robinson and Mary Elizabeth Murphy Robinson. She lived in Columbus, Georgia from 1940 until 1969 when she returned to Abbeville and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Holmes was formerly employed by Eagle and Phenix Cotton Mill in Columbus. After returning to Abbeville, she worked in the Abbeville Middle School Lunchroom. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Wesley (Joe) Holmes, sisters, Doris Robinson Belcher, Mittie Robinson Reynolds, Mary Robinson Volf, and Nora Lee Holmes Johnson, and a brother, Grady Robinson.


           Surviving relatives include a brother, John Henry Robinson and wife, Ann, Abbeville; several loving nieces and nephews.
