Annie Ruth Nichols LeCompte, a resident of the Union Grove Community of Coffee County, Alabama, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013, at a local hospital. She was 91. She was a loving wife of 55 years, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday October 19, 2013 at Union Grove Baptist Church, with Reverend Randall Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 AM to Service time on Saturday in the church sanctuary prior to the funeral. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Union Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2525 County Road 643, Chancellor, AL 36316.
Mrs. LeCompte was born and lived her life in Coffee County, Alabama, daughter of the late of Oscar and Naomi (Snow) Nichols. She was a homemaker, farmer, and an active member of Union Grove Baptist Church since its inception in 1922. She loved her Savior, church family, and fellowship. Mrs. LeCompte enjoyed gardening, friends, church activities, and following her favorite sports teams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Onyx LeCompte and brothers, Hilmer Nichols and Don Nichols.
Surviving relatives include two children, Betty LeCompte Walters (Lomax) of the Union Grove Community, and Danny LeCompte (Kaye) of Auburn; six grandchildren Aletheia Walters Johnson (Brad), Buck Walters (Tina), Clint Walters (Stephanie), all of the Enterprise area, Jerod LeCompte (Amanda) of Auburn, and Judson LeCompte of Starkville, MS.; six great grandchildren Melanie and Bo Walters, Breana and Ariana Johnson, Regan and Peyton Walters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will be serving as active pallbearers.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the third floor nurses and staff of Southeast Alabama Medical Center for their kindness and loving care.
