Annie Will, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend stepped over into the arms of Jesus at the age of 85 at her home in Dothan, Alabama, on July 28, 2023.
Annie Will was born in Cottonwood, Alabama, on December 1, 1937, to Maynard and Katie Lou Sellers. She attended Cottonwood High School.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles “Ray” Taylor. Annie Will’s legacy lives on through her loving children: Danny Taylor (Jan), Randy Taylor (Leigh), and Joy Taylor Windham (Vann).
One song that she sang over and over to the grandchildren when they were little was “Into My Heart”. She also made sure each one learned the 23rd Psalm. They will miss her so … Kelly Hart (Chad), Carmen Butler (Nathan), Brent Taylor (Amanda), Kendra Taylor Hatcher, Taylor Windham, Gavin Taylor (Mallory), Connor Windham, and Nicolett Butler.
Great-grandchildren include Madelyn Taylor (Anthony Sasser), Caleb Butler, Hank Johnson, Marlie Johnson, Reed Taylor, and Bodhi Hart; one great-great-grandchild, Brinley Kate Sasser. Annie Will dearly loved her brothers Earl (Merle) and Charles Sellers. Merle has been so much more than a sister-in-law to her; she was her sister. She leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Katie Lou Sellers; and her in-laws, Ernest and Levettie Taylor. Favorite loved ones who have gone on to Heaven include very “special sisters” Evelyn Granger and Naomi Taylor Crutchfield, brothers-in-law Charles Granger and John D. Taylor.
One of her favorite things in life was taking care of babies and children in her home (especially her own grandchildren). For decades, she rocked and loved on the babies in the Union Hill Church Nursery. Her faith was very important, and she especially loved the 23rd Psalm.
Family meant everything to her and any excuse for a gathering was a good one … fish frys, homemade ice cream, time at the lake, and good chicken foot games. If she loved you, you were family. Her butter rolls, homemade chocolate, and peanut butter cakes, cupcakes topped with chocolate and vanilla icing, and her special brownies are legendary to her family.
Visitation, funeral, and burial will be at Union Hill Baptist Church, Cottonwood, Alabama, where she has been a member for more than 64 years serving faithfully on the Hospitality Committee as well as in the Nursery … her favorite places to be. Pastor Cory Solomon will officiate, and Reverend Aaron Dickinson will lead the service in music. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers include: Nathan Butler, Chad Hart, Brent Taylor, Taylor Windham, Gavin Taylor, and Connor Windham.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Union Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 7335 South County Road 33, Cottonwood, AL, 36320.
Heartfelt thanks to Reagan and Mollie at Gentiva Hospice. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Buried deep in her heart were the following words … “I love my Jesus … we can’t thank Him enough, Honey”
